I hate it when Chas is funnier than me.
This morning my Twitter feed led me to a horribly sad and darkly funny story about a photo shoot gone wrong. Seems a videographer stepped on his subject, a tiny and rare earless rabbit.
Original photo stolen from NPR
Read the article; I'll wait.
Set aside your horror and outrage and pity for all involved, and just notice how damned funny this is. So much is wrong here I can't even begin, and it's all pointed out by well-meaning but humorless commenters at NPR's blog site. I was moved to make a comment (rare for me on a national forum), in which I was a smartass (not at all rare for me).
I cracked myself up, so of course I had to share it with my funnier-than-me husband. "Chas," I said, giggling. "Earless rabbit," "direct hit," blah blah blah. "Poor little guy probably never heard him coming."
"Ha ha," chuckled Chas. "I guess a human foot wasn't lucky for that rabbit."
Silence. Gahhhhhh. Way funnier. "I'm posting that, you know," I said.
I'd feel better if he had to try to be funny, even a little bit.

I'm calling PETA.
