(Original photo stolen from the source, and isn't it spectacular? Totally worth putting out for. Not the 13-inch, though)
December 20th, 2009 may be stamped upon the death certificate of my beloved eMac. That was the last night it did my evil bidding, though even then it exasperated me with its suddenly wacky behavior.
Since then I have become accustomed to depending upon the kindness of, well not strangers, but family, who are strange enough, for my internet fix. Family and my workplace. And I have leaned heavily upon my friend Gubby, who has been (as always) an invaluable tool in my Mr. Fix-It Computer Patch Kit. See what I did there, Gub? I complimented AND thanked you while concurrently calling you a tool. Foolery giveth and she taketh away.
Ahem, just being a jerk, sorry. Thanks, Gub.
But the sad reality that is beginning to sink in is that what we had thought was a failing hard drive, plus maybe a failing CD drive, is probably a failed motherboard. This happy piece of news comes from my highly tech-savvy friend and coworker Robb, who has tried everything he knew to help me as well.
I could have just taken the thing to a Mac fixer-upper dude, but where's the sport in that?
Looks like I'm rudderless for a while longer. Will begin combing Twitter for cheap reconditioned Macs that
a) I can afford and
b) Gubby doesn't laugh at and
c) Chas will let me buy.
Until that happy day when the mail lady (who sees me only in fuzzy slippers and a full head of Happy Hair)
(Original photo stolen from these guys)
or the FedEx man (who I almost bear-hugged Saturday when he brought the awesome OWC external hard drive that was supposed to solve my computer crisis but couldn't)
(Photo stolen from Other World Computing, whom I highly recommend)
or the UPS dude (who may be scared of me for some reason) . . .
(Photo stolen from these guys)
. . . until one of them brings me my next Mac-in-the-box, don't be surprised if you see me on-line only on Twitter or Farcebook, where my buttheadery is fast and easy and creativity is cheap.
Still here and still love you all,

Nobody does it better than Mac. Durability is their main guarantee.

OK, these? Are probably the funniest comments I've read in a long time. Kudos to Foolery for, despite being sans Mac, still managed to get both Bossy AND Steve Jobs to comment! I want some of whatever she's drinkin'. Or smokin'.

Thank God for Twitter and Facebook! Can you imagine...

That looks like an offer I can't refuse. I'll give you a call soon.

Back up, sister girlfriend. Bossy claimed Steve Jobs (and his Macs) as her own two years ago:

Oh no! Mine is on it's very last legs and I can not even take it! So, do you really think macs are that much better? I have a pc and i don't hate it!

If my computer fails, what happens to all of the people who live in there?

Don't bear hug the FedX man, they hate that.

I really hate computer-dying stories. They give me the willies.
I really love, though, the UPS man. Because he brings presents.

I put out for my MacBookPro.
For 38 years. So far.

I am sorry about your dearly departed. That is a horror any way you slice it. Perhaps a macbook pro is a work expense? You know, expense-able? I'm pretty sure you creative types need macs, right?

Horrors! Did you say your mother waterboarded your computer?
Here's to a speedy approval process to purchase the system that you want.

According to my favorite widget on my own aging iMac, Mercury will be retrograde until January 15th, after that, things should even out...whatever that means. Good Luck!
