Almost time to leave for Tahoe, and am I packed?
HA! That's funny. I HAVE had a beers, however, while baking pumpkin bread, frying bacon, hard-boiling eggs and cleaning the kitchen. I have shopped for last-minute groceries in a busy Raley's. I have sorted kids' clothes, unpacked and repacked the girls' suitcases, and filled the staging area with bags and boxes and directions.
I am now brain-dead. It wasn't a big leap, but I have achieved zero brain function.
On the menu for tomorrow night's dinner: two (almost) 35-pound lasagnas, three kinds of bread, and a choice of hearts of romaine salad or spinach salad with feta, bacon, red onion, mushrooms and hard-boiled egg. (If anyone other than my plebeian father eats the hearts of romaine salad instead of the spinach salad, I may cry.) Pumpkin bread for dessert, because I forgot I was out of cocoa powder for a Texas Chocolate Cake. Oh well.
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving, whether you are with family, friends, or in the cozy comfort of your own home. We are all blessed just to be here, and for that I am thankful. I'm also thankful if there is actually someone reading this drivel.
Time for bed, and then up early-ish to start all over again. A hand squeeze and a hug across the miles to you all.
